Spring 2013 Symposium – Democracy Unfiltered: Discussing 100 Years of Direct Elections and Modern Issues Affecting the Law of Democracy

On April 12, the Journal of Legislation and Public Policy presented their annual symposium on “Democracy Unfiltered: Discussing 100 Years of Direct Elections and Modern Issues Affecting the Law of Democracy.” Convened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment, the panel discussion addressed historical and current issues affecting American democracy. The panel was moderated by Professor Roderick Hills of NYU. Panelists included Professor Richard Pildes of NYU; Professor Bruce Cain of Stanford University, who is currently a Straus Fellow at NYU Law; Professor Wendy Schiller of Brown University; and Professor Ilya Somin of George Mason University School of Law.
